Shelf space fills up quickly, so I designed custom Squircle™ holders to utilize vertical space. Hanging the pots directly onto Modern Aqua pegboards in my IKEA cabinets keeps the aesthetic clean, maximizes light exposure, and frees up shelving for more plants.

I engineered a clean V-notch at the top rim so you can effortlessly lift the inner pot. This allows for a split-second check on root health, growth, and moisture levels without disturbing the plant.

You don’t need to lift the inner pot to water. I designed a triangular cutout near the base that aligns perfectly with the reservoir. Simply insert the nozzle of a squeeze bottle to top it up in seconds—no need to move the pot off your shelf or pegboard.
effortless refills
While compatible with soil, this system is optimized for semi-hydroponics. My preferred setup uses Pon and a cotton wick threaded through the bottom. The reservoir supplies continuous moisture, keeping the substrate perfectly damp—never soggy—for maximum root aeration.
(For smaller seedlings, I use an equal-parts mix of tree fern fiber and perlite instead.)
You can absolutely run this setup without a wick; I haven't had any issues. If you choose to go wickless, I recommend covering the customizable port with a snap-on charm. This traps internal humidity and keeps the medium consistently moist.
